"Save me!"

For the past couple of weeks this has been Brock's favorite phrase. If I'm carrying him back to his room for a diaper change he'll yell over my shoulder to anyone who will listen "SAVE ME! SAVE ME!!" (sounds more like sabe me). Or if he is in the bath he'll lay down with one ear in the water.. "SAVE ME! SAVE ME!". Hiding behind the curtains, under a pile of pillows or dangling himself from a chair... "SAVE ME! SAVE ME!". And he always has a sneaky little smile on his face when he says it... he's a funny little boy.

Kids are funny

  • Brock will only eat an apple if it has absolutely no stem... not even a small one. He'll hand it back to you over and over saying "open it" until the stem is completely gone. I have done many apple surgery's with needle nose pliers and scissors.

  • Brodey is having a hard time transitioning to spring wear. If I put a t-shirt on him he'll cry that he needs "one with sweebs!!" (sleeves) Shorts are pants that are "too short!!!". And he MUST wear his camo fleece jacket every time he goes outside.. even if it is 75 degrees.

  • Brock loves his shoes. From the very second he wakes up in the morning he wants his shoes on... before breakfast... before ANYTHING else... he wants his shoes on. And it's a specific pair of brown velcro one's he wants. He won't wear the expensive New Balance shoes I bought him, or the new Crocs I tried this morning.

  • Brodey loves sugar... he doesn't get much of it around here so when he does get candy or anything sweet there is no chance of him sharing it. Except for with Brock. Easter morning he got some candy in his Easter basket.... Brock wasn't up yet so for every piece of candy he pulled out, he would pull out another and say "I'll save this one for Brock." He did the same at the Easter egg hunt.

  • Anytime Jeff or I leave the house.. or even the room... Brock will yell "luf you Mom!" or "luf you Dad!". Even when we are playing outside if Brock is going to run around the house where I can't see him he'll first yell in my direction, "luf you mom!!". I love it.

  • Brodey loves to be naked. I don't know where he learned this or how to make him stop... but several times a day he'll run around the house completely naked acting like a monkey. It doesn't matter who is here.. he has no shame.

Easter Weekend - Sunday

I have visited a few of my friends blogs this morning and seen some really cute pictures of their kids from Easter morning... all smiling... all looking in the same direction. I tried to take one of those cute pictures after Church on Sunday and this is what I got....

First try...

Second...

Third...

Fourth...

Fifth...

Then I gave up.

We have noticed a trend in these kind of pictures. Here's our best shot from last Easter...

Easter 2006 wasn't so bad... here we are two months before Brock was born...

I guess pictures just get more interesting for us the bigger our family gets. I can't wait to see what our Easter picture looks like next year!

Easter Weekend - Saturday

Our Church had a big Easter egg hunt on Saturday with more than 12,000 eggs, pizza, cotton candy, moonwalks and slides. The boys had a blast and the weather was beautiful.

Me and Brod

Brodey was much more into hunting eggs this year. Every pink one he picked up he said "this one is for you mommy".

Easter Weekend - Friday

Brodey was a big fan of coloring Easter eggs this year. My sister and I had to make a few phone calls to determine how to hard boil an egg... but in the end, egg coloring was successful. Brock ended up with green dye on his face and we broke more eggs than we colored, but it was fun anyway.

Cooper

My nephew Cooper is just 2 days older than Brock and we love him like he is one of our own. He has been with us all week and the boys have had a BLAST playing together.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Jeff had a softball game last night so the boys and I went out to watch. I rode in the backseat with them so Mr. Greg could ride with us. Plus Brodey loves when I sit in the back with them so we can all hold hands. : ) We had a little trouble all looking in the same direction for daddy to take a picture. (And daddy made endless fun of us for all wearing so much green... but the boys thought it was fun.)

More fun things from yesterday... the boys and I went to the mall in the morning, after looking at clothes for them for a few minutes we wondered over to the maternity clothes section. Brodey asked me in a very loud voice, "Mom... why are we looking at these really big pants?" The sales lady loved hearing this.

Fishing with Uncle Myles

The boys had a big day yesterday... they got to go fishing with their "Monkey Myles". Brock was not a fan of wearing a life jacket and it took Brodey a while to warm up to touching the fish, but they both LOVED being on the boat and spending the day with Myles.

Food

My friend Davis just posed a question about food cravings during pregnancy on her blog. This is the second time her and I have been pregnant at the same time and I know without a doubt if there is one person who understands the importance and urgency of the phrase "I have to have ________ right now" it's Davis. (I can remember frantically searching the Internet for a Pizza Hut with a salad bar and giving her directions over the phone when she was pregnant with her daughter... it was important.)
Anyhow... to answer the question... with Brodey it was Big Macs (I know.. disgusting) and vegetable fried rice. With Brock it was corn dogs and coleslaw. This third pregnancy has been all over the board. Basically if I see it on TV I have to have it immediately. Rachel Ray made potato soup one afternoon.. I had to call my mom to go find some. The next day Curious George ate a Banana Cream pie... several phone calls and an hour long trip in traffic later, my brother-in-law brought me one (what a guy, right??). A couple of weeks ago I woke up from a dead sleep and begged Jeff to run out and get me a barbecue pork sandwich with lots of coleslaw on top. I've also eaten several boxes of frozen strawberries and Moe's burritos (without meat). Yesterday I ate a whole box of girl scout cookies by myself. Anything tossed in wing sauce sounds fantastic. This may well be the pregnancy that I gain 200 lbs. (Assuming all these things start staying down.) ;)

Weekend..

We had an exciting weekend... I took Brodey to his first ever movie at the movie theater... Alvin and the Chipmunks.. he loved it and did very well sitting still. He asked me a few times if he could eat the popcorn on the floor, threw a tootsie roll wrapper at the man in front of him and had to get up to use the restroom 5 minutes into the movie, but all in all it was a good time. And I didn't get sick, so that's always a plus!!
Later that night Brod fell down the garage steps (thankfully there are only 2 steps) and landed on his face resulting in a bloody nose. I brought that on myself by saying he never gets injured in a post from last week. Brock showed him up the next day by falling on the driveway and losing his entire pinkie fingernail. He has been very tough about it and refusing to wear his Curious George bandaid.
And here's another video clip of Brock for my sister who loves how he says "Cooper".

Personality

This is how the boys watch TV while I'm cleaning up...

they are best buds. If Brodey hops up in this chair and Brock isn't right behind him he'll ask "Where's my broder?" (brother)

Brock LOVES our dog Sadie. Sadie.. not such a big fan of Brock. Brock man has been kicked, rolled over and even bit by our dog (all well deserved... and unfazing to Brock). Here's a little video of them "playing" together...

And another clip of Brock. This was after dinner last night... showing his personality and a few of his many many faces. I had to stop videoing when he went to nose picking.

Brock has been wide open since he started walking. He'll run down the driveway, fall on his face, hop up and keep on running. He's not even 2 years old yet and he's already burned his hand on the oven door, grabbed a hot frying pan, had several bloody noses and bloody lips and fallen off every piece of furniture we own. None of these things have happened to Brodey. Brodey is much more cautious and careful. He's normally the one chasing after Brock yelling "Be careful!!!!". He's a good big brother.

Brodey went out with Daddy again Friday night. Jeff had been promising to take him to a restaurant for ice cream... since it was getting late he changed plans and took him to McDonalds. They pulled in the parking lot and Brodey said to him "this is not a rest-er-aunt daddy, this is McDonalds!". That's my boy. :)
