She's 3

She's growing WAY TOO FAST. 3?!?!?!
Besides being completely heartbroken over her "big girl age" we had a GREAT day celebrating our wonderful Lyla. It was Labor Day.. and daddy actually took the day off! We started with pink donuts at Dunkin Donuts.. then went to play at the mall (it was raining.. which ruined our park plans). We had a surprisingly fun time at the mall playing and shopping and having lunch (with all the kids! and they HATE the mall! But we had a BLAST!)

Later that day Lyndsay, Myles, Travis, Kali, Cooper and Ellie came over and we had dinner and cake. She had a very fun day and asked for days afterward if it was still her birthday. :)

Lyla is TWO!!

As much as I try to avoid it, these kids just keeping getting bigger!!
Here is Lyla, on her second birthday, eating a breakfast donut.
She loooooooves daddy
I love when she dresses herself. I put on the shirt and skirt, she added the too short pants and camo crocs. (on the wrong feet of course)

Getting so big! If it's true what they say about doubling their height at age 2, she should be about 5ft 8.. same as me! (The pediatrician estimated between 5'9 and 5'10! We'll see...)
Lyla's birthday fell on Labor Day this year.. so we had a bunch of friends over for a cookout. Lyla is always very quiet when a bunch of people are around, but I think she had fun. She even played a game of tag with AJ after most everyone had left!
ALL of Lyla's little female friends were out of town! So here she is with all her boys! (AJ, in the blue shirt, is only 2 weeks older than her and look how much taller he is!!)
At least baby Hadley and baby Lucy were able to celebrate with Lyla!

She's two. She's wonderful and beautiful and sweeter than anything I could ever imagine. She's fun and silly and loved loved loved.

18 month well check...

Better late than never! Lyla's 18 month well check was a few weeks ago... but I just came across these pictures and remembered!

Brock... always fun
She was a trooper for her shots and did very well stacking blocks, playing tea party and coloring with the Doctor. She is a tiny little 31.5 inches (40th %tile) and 23 lbs (45th %tile). She doesn't do a lot of talking yet... words we do hear a lot are "momma, doggy, brocky and pppplllleaseee".

18 months!

Today Lyla is 18 months old. Why not put on some matching clothes and take some torturous pictures to celebrate!

Poor baby just can't take any more "affection"

Brodey, say "cheese"....
Brodey, say "hippopotamus".....
Brodey, say "Christmas tree"....
Brodey, say "puke".... (now why does that get a smile??)
Brothers

It has been a GLORIOUS 18 months having Lyla in our family. We love love love her and look forward to seeing her become a BIG SISTER sometime in the next month-ish.

Walking Baby!

Lyla and I went to a friends 1st birthday party at gymboree on Saturday and when we came home she decided that, yes, she can walk. She took her first steps on November 5th, at exactly 14 months old and has taken a few steps here and there since then. (no more than 8-10 in a row) But on this Saturday (January 9th, 2010... 16 months old) she was all about it and has rarely crawled since! Way to go Lyla!! We are so proud of you!! (well.. I am.. Daddy wanted you to crawl forever... when I called to tell him you were taking steps back in November he wanted me to push you down.)

Here she is in action...

At the doctor

Lyla had her 1 year well check on Monday, here are her stats:
Weight: 20 lbs 1 oz (30th %tile)
Height: 30 in (just above the 75th %tile)
Brodey at age 1
Weight: 24 lbs 4 oz
Height: 31 1/4 inches
Brock at age 1
Weight: 22 lbs 4 oz
Height: 30 1/2 inches

I asked about her being in such a low percentile for weight and she said most babies "reset" themselves into a new percentile around 9 months and then pretty much continue through childhood in that percentile. I was surprised by her weight considering how MUCH SHE EATS. It's really very shocking. She must have a pretty quick metabolism.

She is doing great learning new skills.... has been using a sippy cup for at least a month and feeding herself for a very long time. Independent little thing. She absolutely will not let me feed her anything on a spoon or fork. Meals are messy around here. She is trying more and more to walk... although I feel like she is still very much a baby and not ready for walking!! So weird how fast a year passes.

We still call her "Lyla Beans". Brock calls her "yo-yo"... we don't know why. She is still very sweet and quiet. She's so quiet it's almost like she is shy, but she's not. She'll let anyone hold her and is very fond of snuggling into the chest and face of anyone who will let her. Really, if you have not been snuggled by Lyla, you are missing out. We love her.

11 Months!

I've not been a very good blogger latley. Summer is so busy! (or is it the 3 small kids??) Anyhow... Lyla is now 11 months old. I've taken many pictures but the camera is upstairs and I'm afraid if I leave the computer to go get it I will AGAIN forget what I was doing and it will be another week before I write this post. Pictures soon... I hope.
Lyla is growing so fast. She can now pull up to her feet and tries taking steps when you hold her hands. Her steps are very un-graceful and hilarious. We love it! She continues to only have 2 teeth... so weird. The boys both had 8-10 by this time. We of course love her toothless grin and she is having no trouble eating with them so everyone is happy! Oh and she loves having those two teeth brushed. Cute.
She loves playing with the boys and NO ONE can make her laugh harder than Brodey. He is such a good big brother.
Anyhow..... she has a birthday coming up! We are not doing a party... we haven't really with any of them... but we will DEFINITELY celebrate our sweet little Lyla!

Last T-ball practice

The boys had their last TBall practice of the season last night. Cooper and Brodey did great and seemed to have fun. Here they are playing catch before their coaches arrived.
During practice Lyla showed us her newest skill... pulling up to standing ALL BY HERSELF. She is also officially doing a "real" crawl... no more army crawl.
And Brock. Well... watch the video... (he dressed himself in the random 80's attire)

10 months

Wow! 10 months! Lyla started doing an official "army crawl" a few days after she turned 9 months. Every now and then she'll get up on all fours and do a real crawl, but she's still mostly on her tummy.... and VERY fast! The boys love love love that she can get around with them. She can also pull up on things but usually just to her knees. If I help her up to her feet she can stand like that for a while. I'm still assuming she will be a late walker since the boys were, so it's no surprise to me that she isn't very sturdy on her feet. She has two words that she says a lot (Mama and Yay... how cute is that????) and just in the past week started saying "dada". She continues to be a very quiet and gentle baby (with the exception of meal time... when food is involved she is very loud and excited!) We love our sweet Lyla beans!

9 month well check

Beans had her 9 month well check today... nothing exciting. Just a toe prick and a weight check really. She weighed 18 lb 2 oz and I can't remember her height... something in the 75th percentile. She was so great at the doctor... didn't even notice the toe prick and giggled when the nurse squeezed her toe to get more blood out. (just typing that makes me want to pass out) The doctor said she was "perfect and beautiful". No argument here!

New Tricks!

She learns something new everyday!
